The latest one I like is Romantic Killer, it was short but unexpectedly good throughout the series. Ouran High School Host Club is my forever favorite. Honorable mentions for Daily Lives of High School Boys, Blue Period, and Assassination Classroom lol

honestly ive got too many to name, but, as of right now i'm currently watching run with the wind and it's a really refreshing take on an anime about sports.

seeing each character grow and develop into becoming a better runner for a relay marathon, all the while encouraging each other to keep pushing on, is really inspiring. it's gotten me back into running too, though i do it just as a hobby and as excerise haha

also learnt that it was originally a novel, might give it a read once i've gotten better at japanese.

Just started Tokyo ghoul, I'm a newbie to animes. I've watched plenty softcore anime but didn't keep track of names (sad stories, love stories) also alot of pokemon as a kid.

But I want to get into an anime dark and magical.

oh boy. i've always loved magical girl anime like sailor moon, tokyo mew mew, shugo chara, etc. recently my partner has gotten me into dungeon meshi, and we also recently watched gurren lagan, which brought me to tears multiple times.

yuri on ice was a guilty pleasure for me, and still holds a special place in my heart.

Favourite anime? That one's tough. I don't watch anime as much as I do read manga.

Favourite manga tho? NANA, hands down.

@vwen I could never get into Lucky Star, I'm not quite sure why xD

I've been trying to finish a rewatch of Cells At Work season 1, since season 2 came out a while back and now there's a movie???

In terms of anime I genuinely really love, though... Gurren Lagann, god damn. Jojo's up there too, but fuck if I don't love Gurren Lagann.

I'm also keeping up with DanDaDan! Oh, and Madoka Magica's a nice one. I'll admit these are pretty pedestrian, but I'm not exactly in on all the Underground Niche Media.

I've also been trying to watch Serial Experiments Lain, but somehow I can never stay in the habit of watching it and then suddenly it's been so long that I forgot all the context and need to rewatch and so I just rewatch the same episodes over and over and like them less and less each time because I feel forced to watch the same episodes over and over so I'm not even really disliking anything about the episodes themselves I'm just getting frustrated at the repetition I'm inflicting on myself. Oh well.

@ruerue, i totally get how you feel about feeling the need to start over again and again with specific media. it kills my enjoyment. That is the main reason why I hate Persona 5 LOL

@jiyuufighter Oh, I've never actually watched the Persona 5 anime. I think there's an anime? I think I've vaguely heard of one existing. I've never played the game either. ...Any of the games, actually. Huh.

I used to watch a lot of anime and my favourites are a mess. I have a lot of nostalgia for Dragon Ball, Captain Tsubasa (I have no clue what the actual title is for that - it was a football anime which aired in Poland in the 1990s and had several other titles such as Captain Hawk and Captain Majed), Sailor Moon and Saint Seiya. However, my favourites as a kid were not any of those because I loved one called Super Pig (This is also not the actual title - I didn't have the internet back then and Poland loved to change the titles). It was about a teenager transforming into a pig and fighting crime, duh! Another one was similar to Sailor Moon and was called Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne which I loved because it had the most parentified teenagers in the world and I am from a very parentified town. Pokémon came out a little bit too late for me, so I never got fully into it as I played the video games much later (I had a USSR version of SNES as my sole gaming console!).

Later on and much more conciously, I grew to absolutely adore Detective Conan (both anime and the manga) but abandoned it in my 20s as it was (still is!) too long. At the same time, I fancied The Vision of Escaflowne because of it was keen on alternative history and being more Sci-Fi than fantasy with some politics in the mix (and a lot of messy families). I also enjoyed Gainax-made anime but my favourite was Fushigi no Umi no Nadia because of Julius Verne and steampunk plus some elements of dystopian fantasy. Another one is obvious as it was Cowboy Bebop as well as Trigun (I preferred the manga version of the latter). Finally, there was FMA and yes - the first one is my favourite because it had better written characters to me and I liked the movie because I am a history nerd).

In my 30s - I enjoyed Japan Sinks as it is like a good disaster film, Parasite (very early 00s-like anime in its themes), Food Fight (I had friends and family go to culinary schools, so it was hilarious to me) and an anime that I was unable to find the title of but it was about two friends who were terrorists trying to bring the nation's attention to a secret super-soldier project in an abusive orphanage that they survived. It might have had a Highrise in its title. Anything Satoshi Kon made is great but Tokyo Godfathers was my fave. I am partial to CLAMP because I disliked the ending of xxHolic but it's fun to read and watch. Yazawa Ai's works and their adaptations have a lot of themes related to mental health and resonate with my youth as I had many friends who went to art schools and grew up in messed up situations but my favourite was her short comic about a girl being a ghost. Yep.

Finally, shows that I really, really liked were mainly adaptations of novels such as the futuristic version of the Count of Monte Cristo, which also has the most interesting style to me that matches constructivism in many ways. No. 6 is probably the encapsulation of what I love in the media - ecopunk dystopias with hidden conspiracies. It is based on a book, which is even better and the gist of it is that the bees had had enough of humans wrecking the planet so they strike back. I noticed it for one reason - the author made the protagonist live in my area. The Promised Neverland is another dystopian one that has many mystery elements but I loved one thing - it being an antithesis to Attack on Titan. Ghost Hound is sort of a countryside conspiracy show that is about teenagers trying to figure out why their village is weird. Finally, Ghost Hunt - it genuinely scared me and I love horror so it is hard. The style looks very generic as does the plot and the characters but it just has this little something.

Um... Yeah. I ramble whenever I am asked about my favourites in any category :(
