Nicer way to add/show links?

SO...

I am often adding a link to my status. for example to a project I finished, or something that I enjoy. But links can be ugly and they also take space and letters. Can we have a format for links added to the statuses? or let them convert to something like [link] automatically when we paste one in?

@ainnadesu I know this post is old. But this question was about status posts https://status.cafe , not forum posts. The topic you linked is about the forum only. I already tested this in statues itself with no success.
