recently with the whole social media ban on Australia that's going on it made me think 4 a bit Imagine if there was like another hangout game 4 kids? heavily regulated? sure probably needs a good report system if you want it to be good for like little kids [people under 13 basically], im thinking of it being web based and you like play minigames on em cause honest to god there seems to be like NOWHERE kids/minors can go rn, hell not even the outside seems inviting anymore, it always seems like you need a car T^T
A regular phighting fan and artist who randomly got into coding so now im here

I'd probably suggest a cooperative multiplayer survival game resembling Scratcharia, which is a Scratch project by Griffpatch based on multiplayer Terraria, except in a clean format that was mostly safe for kids. The project still exists, but multiplayer is no longer functional. It has only predefined items and blocks, and only allowed chats that contained words in the whitelist. You could build structures and socialize with others, but you couldn't really build anything vulgar. I think what is important is making sure someone playing your game isn't able to clearly interpret any structure built within your game as inappropriate, while allowing at least some degree of creative freedom. Basically what I'm saying is to not give the ability for any "upside down T" structure to be actually recognized as phallic, instead registering as vague to the player. I would probably only allow supersafe chat with predefined phrases players select from a menu, since Scratch implied in an announcement that even projects using a "whitelist of acceptable words" are vulnerable to misuse as well. Supersafe chat is what Roblox used to do, as seen here: |
