lets talk about xmpp

so im new to this and im lost where to , how to find stuff where to join groups and so on

I am surprised it still exists! I don't know if it has any functions beyond chat rooms and IMs but I used it years ago in tandem with ICQ (same client), so I'm no help. I'd love to learn how they expanded but the website still looks the same to me so maybe other groups found a way to utilise it better.
