Newpipe is the goat. Wish you could customize the GUI somehow - it's too minimalistic.

  • KDE connect to send files (and clipboard contents) between my phone and my computer
  • thunderbird as my e-mail client
  • firefox with uBlock origin to block ads (i hate ads)
  • termux to ssh into remote machines from my phone (android 16 now comes with a built-in linux terminal, but it is very buggy for me, so I still prefer termux)
  • AnkiDroid flash card software

Fennec as my browser, Raindrop as my bookmark manager, Read You for reading feeds, Thunderbird for mails, KDE Connect and LocalSend for connecting with my desktop, Standard Notes for notes although I still rely on their servers, LibreTorrent for torrenting, mpv for videos

Ooooooohooohoohoo, this is a good topic!!!

My favorite FOSS Android apps... boy where do I start?

- PipePipe! It's a fork of NewPipe that has SponsorBlock implementation and can also work with BiliBili and NicoNico. I practically use this 24/7 to watch vids, download videos and music that I like, make personal playlists of things, etc. God it's the best thing ever.

- VLC. Best media player ever. I use it to listen to music and watch videos I've downloaded!

- App Manager - I use this to look for names of Android packages so that I can take care of them with UADB.

- Discreet Launcher - Simple launcher, no clutter or noise. Just you, the wallpaper, and the time/date (optionally).

- Fossify Apps - More specifically I got some to replace the stock contacts, gallery, messenger, and phone apps. They're simple and get straight to the point.

- F-Droid! It's a no-brainer as to this being the reason behind having all these different apps. Free, no BS, no ads, no need to phone big brother, this is a godsend to Android. (plus might as well include this here cuz why not, y'know)
