Why does verifying accounts takes so long?

I really need an answer for this, when i waited for my email to verify it, my gas of preservance was now leaking and i want to fricking complain about it in the forum. But only now, why is that?

I think it's because the verifying process is done manually. AFAIK there's only one person running status.cafe and they do all of the verifying by themselves.
