status widget isn't displaying

hi. i tried to apply the status widget for my website, but it didn't display anything. i dont have any idea on how this happened and how to fix this. i will be really appreciate if someone could help me with this issue.

Unfortunately, it looks like Neocities decided to restrict the security on their free plan and won't load external scripts anymore (https://github.com/neocities/neocities/issues/484 for more). This affects newly created Neocities account.

One way around that would be to directly include the code from https://status.cafe/current-status.js?name=vizibean in your page (at the bottom of it)

hi! thanks for replying! i see now why the status widget didnt work at all on my website. the link youve provided honestly doesnt seem to help to fix the issue. i got a friend of mine whos average on coding stuff to help with the situation, and he gave bits of information on how i can deal with it. apparently ive to wait for at least about 1 or 2 months for it to get working so that neocities would start to unrestrict my account as my neocities account was made in like a week ago. at least from what ive read. anyways still, thanks for the help again. i really much appreciated it!

i've got the same problem, i guess that's because my site is very new. i hope it gets fixed soon by neocities!

Kyle Drake has stated that this is not something that is going to be fixed, so I would advise not to get your hopes up: https://github.com/neocities/neocities/issues/484#issuecomment-1919920344

Kyle also said in the GitHub issue linked by m15o above that: "...too many criminals are abusing this functionality for malicious activity, and like most other platforms right now (how many sites let you login without your phone now?), we also need to circle the wagons; It's dangerous to the future of the site and the search rankings of our legitimate sites, and it's not compatible with our core mission to bring back individuals making fun, creative static HTML sites."

Are you trolling right now? I went to that tutorial and it just links to a dead link on a literal surfing website (https://surfing-waves.com/feed.htm.) and then t tells the reader to use that site's widget instead more or less. Is this a psyop or something?

The URL has an extra period at the end, so it should be https://surfing-waves.com/feed.htm

But yeah, that surfing website has an RSS widget creator on it.

@asmodeusvulcan What?! I was trying to help. Why would I type all that to explain why not to expect the limitations of third-party widgets, including the status.cafe widget, on new free Neocities websites to get fixed, by sharing the words of the person who runs Neocities about why he would not fix it, with a source, and then to share a tutorial to work around it just to troll??

What made you think it is even remotely appropriate to suggest I am trolling or doing a psyop because of this? I seriously find your remarks out of line and unacceptable.

Instead of assuming I had ill intent, slandering me by accusing me of trolling, how about you ask your questions in a better way and in good faith when you encounter a problem with a resource someone else is sharing?
