New to posting on this sort of forum so give me a little bit of grace if I try something and it doesn't work. For the past few months I've been working on a movement puzzle game called Heart Tethers.

You play as a girl named Michelle who was recently hired as a janitor for a workshop that creates machina (robots) for various purposes so long as the price is right. She suddenly gets a signal to head down towards the basement and meets a broken down machina who wants help to be rebuilt. Currently I'm working on a dev log that I plan to post on YouTube but after making the prototype I've been working on rebuilding the systems of the game from the ground up more or less. Recently I've been grinding away at a level editor to help streamline the process due to the level creation process being quite cumbersome when I was working on the prototype I released a few weeks ago.

Right now you can see it's pretty butt ugly but I assure you that it does indeed do things!

You might be wondering why the game looks like that compared to what was shown in the gif/prototype!

Long story! It will be explained in the devlog!

Anyways, the basics like editing palettes, placing tiles, objects and enemies are implemented and it's just a matter of making the new framework read the data and spawn in the appropriate elements. However, I'm hitting a point where I need to flesh out the actual game part of the game so I can further start testing things like enemy and object parameters. Unfortunately this is one of those things where I really do need to try else I'll get annoyed at myself later for being lazy. It's been a bit of a challenge to make a tool that I and others will have to use. I do plan for this game to more or less be wide open for people to mess with so whenever I do think about skimping out on something, there's this nagging voice in the back of my head "your player base will hate you" and I just sit there like "yeah, I guess they would, right?". So currently I'm specifically locking in on being able to edit enemy parameters, copy those params and then paste it to other enemies. Oh and also making it so you can move around these enemies in the editor and for them to maintain the params they had initially. I need somewhere to dump my thoughts whenever I do something I'm proud of so I will keep this updated probably. Feel free to ask me anything about the project if it interests you. You can also try out the prototype here although do keep in mind it's not very good...
